📝 Overview & Benefits

Under this Scheme, one-time financial assistance is to be provided to the Accredited and Recognized Journalist of Assam for treatment.

This scheme will also include Recognised Journalists.

The Scheme also covers dependent family members of the journalist.

Depending upon the nature and severity of the ailments/ disease, after taking into consideration all relevant medical records, etc., the Committee may decide upon the fund to be made available per applicant in the following slabs:

a) Up to a maximum of ₹ 50,000/- in case of disorders not life-threatening in nature.

b) Up to a maximum of ₹ 1,00,000/- in case of disorders life-threatening in nature.

✅ Eligibility Criteria

The applicant should be a citizen of India.

The applicant should be an ordinary resident of Assam.

The applicant must be a journalist who is formally accredited / recognised by the DIPR and fulfil all the norms required for the said accreditation/ recognition.

Note: Grant of financial assistance to any working journalist is not a matter of right. Assistance would be extended depending on the Committees satisfaction as to the eligibility/ merits of the cases and the availability of the financial resources for the purpose. The Committee reserves the right to reject or accept any application without assigning any reasons thereof.

Step 01: Application for grant of financial assistance shall be submitted to the Convener of the Committee (Director, DIPR) in the prescribed form. This shall be accompanied by a report in the prescribed form prescribed format.



Step 02: Proposals for assistance from the fund will be initiated by the DIPR. Specific recommendations and supporting documents which shall be placed before the Committee. However, in cases of urgency/ emergency decisions may be taken with the approval of the Chairperson and reported to the next meeting of the Committee for its approval.



Step 03: The Convener of the Committee (Director, DIPR) may also put up deserving cases for grant of financial assistance.



Step 04: All the applications shall be scrutinized by the committee. The committee may also ask for other certificates and evidence regarding the current financial situation before sanctioning any sort of assistance.



Step 05: Financial assistance shall be provided on the date of issue of the order sanctioning the assistance unless otherwise specified therein.

Attested or self-attested copy of Identity Card (DIPR),

Identity Card of Present Organization,

Bank details like Passbook (Front page) & Cancelled Cheque.

Medical documents like Admission Certificates, Discharge Certificates, Prescriptions, Bills/Vouchers, Clinical Reports, etc.

A copy of his/her PAN Card/Aadhar card.

Other certificates and evidence regarding the current financial situation
