📝 Overview & Benefits

Under the scheme, four regional offices of the Regional Superintendent of Industries (Wool) have been established at Chamba, Srinagar, Almora, and Jaspur. These offices oversee spinning and weaving activities through departmental spinning/production centers.

Trainees who are willing to work in spinning and weaving are selected and provided with wool/NMC spinning wheels. They can carry out spinning and weaving either at the departmental centers or at their own homes. Weavers are compensated for their work according to rates fixed by the Khadi Commission, Government of India, ensuring year-round employment.

To support weavers and spinners, the Khadi & Polyvastra Artisan Welfare and Pension Trust has been established in the state. Upon registration, each artisan receives a 12% contribution from the artisan and a 12% contribution from the department. Additionally, artisans are entitled to receive 25% of their annual spinning and weaving wages as a bonus.
